Finnegan’s Marin: (877 Grant Avenue, Novato) St. Patrick’s Day is the biggest day of the year at Finnegan’s, where they’ll be serving traditional Irish food from 11:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. There will also be bagpipers playing Irish music, and patrons will receive green Finnegan t-shirts!
Jerry’s Downtown BBQ and Music Hall (7380 Redwood Blvd., Novato) Jerry’s is open from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on March 17th. Their St. Patrick’s Day festivities include an afternoon Happy Hour, bagpipers and Irish Dancers, and live entertainment by the band Ship of Fools from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Arizmendi (1002 4th Street, San Rafael) Open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 17th, Arizmendi is offering traditional Irish soda bread on St. Patrick’s Day. If you haven’t had it before, Irish soda bread is typically made of wheat flour, baking soda, salt, and buttermilk, although many Irish people have their own cherished family recipes that may include “extras” like honey, caraway seeds, or raisins. This delicious, simple classic is baked in abundance leading up to St. Patrick’s Day as a symbol of celebration, but it began as an affordable staple in the 1800s when Ireland faced food shortages and yeast wasn’t available.
Murphy’s Irish Pub (464 1st Street East, Sonoma) Murphy’s is open on March 17th from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. The kitchen closes at 9:00 p.m. and will be serving corned beef and cabbage and traditional Irish stew. Live music will be playing all day, with four different bands slated to perform two-hour sets, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
McNear’s (23 Petaluma Blvd. North, Petaluma) McNear’s kitchen is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the bar is open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight. The Keenan School of Irish Dance will be performing, and drink specials will include Guinness, assorted Irish whiskeys, Irish Car Bombs, Irish coffees, Dublin Mules, and green beers. The kitchen will be serving corned beef and cabbage, corned beef sliders, Irish spring rolls, shepherd’s pie, Irish whiskey wings, and Irish cake.
